OUT PATIENT REGULATIONS
  • OPD Registration is free OPD Registration is done in or near the respective OPD areas. The main registration counter is near the North Gate of the hospital.
     
  • You have right to consult any doctor or consultant who is on duty on the day at the OPD. You cannot call for specific doctors not on duty.
     
  • Patients are seen on first come first serve basis only. Out of turn consultation may be provided in case of emergency or for senior citizens.
     
  • For consultation in Specialty and Super-specialty clinics, you should have a referral from the general OPD of TVMCH or a referral form from any other Government hospital / private hospitals / doctors.
     
  • The list of specialty OPD and special OPD are given in separate sections.
     
  • Doctors will not be available at the OPD rooms before or after the OPD times.
     
  • Patients can visit the casualty OP if in urgent need for medical help.

OPD LABORATORY
Lab Investigations: After OPD consultation, the treating doctor will fill up the requisition forms for various investigations & direct / guide you to the concerned lab or department.

  • Certain special investigations are done on particular days only.
  • The reports are normally ready the same day evening for routine tests and on the next OPD day for special tests.
  • All Basic Tests are done free of charge while some special tests are charged as per the prevailing
    norms fixed by Government.
  • Patients should Deposit the money only at the designated hospital Cash Counters and obtain the proper receipt.
  • Due to excess work load, waiting period exists for certain investigations like Hormone profiles
  • Patients are given future dates by the concerned departments. However, these may be done out of turn in urgent situations, on request of the treating doctor.

OPD PHARMACY
The OPD has a dedicated pharmacy outlet in all OP areas where patients are given all prescribed medicines FREE of cost. The prescriptions are the sole prerogative of the consultant and patients CANNOT have their wish list of medication or the duration of prescription
 

OPD ADMISSION POLICY
  1. The decision to admit a patient is the sole decision of the treating doctor.
  2. The decision to admit is based on the urgency of the patients disease or the specific need of the medical condition of the patient.
  3. Ptient will be admitted only if a vacant bed is available.
  4. In case of emergency, out of turn admission will be advised.
  5. Patients will not be admitted based on recommendations or other considerations.

OPD RADIOLOGY
Radiology Investigations: After OPD consultation, the treating doctor will fill up the requisition forms for various investigations & direct / guide you to the concerned lab or department. Most radiological tests are provided at OPD level.
